Underground Drill Rig Simulators |
|
It is well known that mistakes made in the drilling cycle have extensive downstream cost implications. Effective drill rig operator training in complex mining operations is therefore critical for optimising productivity, improving safety and minimising operating costs.
The CYBERMINE Drill Rig Simulator range has been developed in collaboration with original equipment manufacturers to provide for rock drill operator training, re-training and evaluation in a simulated underground mining environment.
The jumbo simulator operator is immersed in a highly realistic, 3D virtual operating mine world, projected on the three wide screen displays located about the operator’s cab. The entire drill rig cab is replicated to provide all drilling and tramming instruments and controls, correctly located about the operator.
The simulated underground mine world comes complete with typical tunnel geometry, drill faces of varying complexities (camber, slope and drill patterns) and other essential areas and features typically encountered in an underground mine. Artificially intelligent miners and mining equipment such as loaders, mine trucks and roof bolters, exist in the simulated mine world in support of the jumbo operator training and evaluation process.
During the simulated drilling cycle, the rock drill operator performs all drilling training tasks that would be required in the actual vehicle. Realistic drilling module behavioural dynamics, hydraulics and interactions with simulated rock characteristics (rock hardness, drillability and fissures) provide a highly realistic drilling experience in which safety and productivity may be accurately measured.
The CYBERMINE Drill Rig Simulator training modules include tramming, in which the drill rig operator must employ due care and skill in order to avoid damage to vehicle components through collisions with the ceiling, walls and floor. Correct placement and deployment of the carrier module is required prior to drilling in the marked areas.
The CYBERMINE Drill Rig Simulator System continually monitors and records the operator’s performance in terms of drilling accuracies, adherence to safety procedures, correct equipment handling techniques and response to emergency situations and failures. These performance reports together with the instructor’s after-action review capability provide a complete training and evaluation system.
Highly efficient and effective drill rig operator training is therefore realised with no loss of production and no danger of accidents, even in the most complex of emergency situations to which the drill rig operator might be expected to respond.
The CYBERMINE Underground Drill Rig Simulator range simulates heavy equipment from all major manufacturers such as Sandvik, Atlas Copco, Cubex and Bucyrus.
