Sandvik Using New CYBERMINE™ Simulation Technology in Training Program

Sandvik Mining and Construction is using the latest in training simulators at the DeBeers-Snap Lake Mine Training Program in its Yellowknife branch.

CYBERMINE™ Simulation Technology, a collaboration between Sandvik and ThoroughTec, is the most advanced and comprehensive training simulator available.   With a single simulator, operators can train on loaders, trucks, bolters and jumbo drills.  An external viewer also can engage a full classroom setting.

ThoroughTec, the South African vehicle and aircraft simulator manufacturer, has delivered the world’s first Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) simulator to the Learnia Training Academy in Benoni.  The unit is part of a nationwide programme to train drivers and operators of heavy construction, earthmoving and mining vehicles. Additional simulators will be installed at dedicated training centres in each province.

Burgeoning Durban based vehicle and aircraft simulator manufacturer, ThoroughTec, has just won its biggest contract ever – a R88.5 million deal with South African arms parastatal Denel.

Under the seven-year contract which was awarded by Denel Land Systems (DLS, ThoroughTec will deliver 60 simulators for the South African Army’s new armoured Infantry Combat Vehicle, the Badger, as well as eight instructor stations.  The contract also entails supplying training systems.

Contract to Supply Simulator for SA's New Armoured Infantry Vehicle

ThoroughTec, the South African simulator manufacturer, has been awarded a R88.5-million contract to design, develop and supply training systems for the S.A. Army’s new armoured Infantry Combat Vehicle, the Badger.  Under the seven-year contract, which was awarded to Denel Land Systems (DLS), ThoroughTec will deliver 60 Badger Simulators and eight instructor stations.   Badger is the name given to the vehicles specified in the Department of Defence’s Hoefyster Project, for which DLS is the prime contractor.
