New Simulator Purchase
Mining Industry Skills Centre Newsletter - May 2008

This new addition will give the resources industry access to a technically superior simulator which has never before been available to the Australian sector.

The simulator, a Komatsu 830e (electric truck) has excellent reporting capabilities, an advanced trainer interface and a fast console change-out, making it ideal for large training situations.
The ThoroughTec simulator is the latest addition to the Skills Centre’s existing fleet of 18 5DT simulators, purchased in June 2006 using funds provided by the State Government.

Features and Advantages of the Komatsu 830e

The Komatsu 830e has some superior technological advantages.  These include:

•    Excellent reporting capabilities - The Komatsu 830e can generate reports around development benchmarks that are essential for training operators.
•    Advanced trainer interface - The flexibility, usability, the level of information return to the trainer and the lack of jargon makes Komatsu 830e the best on the market.
•    Fast console change-out - The ThoroughTec simulator has a modular approach to its console change-out, making it easier for single-person operation.  It is ideal for an expanding fleet as it allows interchangeable consoles on the base unit.

Why ThoroughTec?

Our Manager – Simulation and eLearning, Deanna Hutchinson, explains that prior to purchasing the simulator, the team conducted extensive research into the simulation products currently available.  They also spoke to some of ThoroughTec’s current clients and they were extremely satisfied with the company’s products.

“In addition to being able to change equipment consoles with ThoroughTec’s base console, which means a more cost effective solution to providing the industry with access to state-of-the-art training equipment, ThoroughTec have a unique approach to maintenance support which we feel service the industry to the highest possible standard,” said Deanna.
