  The wheel loader has evolved over the years to become a highly versatile, productive machine suited to many different applications in almost any mining operation. Consistently safe and efficient operation of wheel loaders in mining operations is essential for both operator safety and mine productivity.
With this in mind, CYBERMINE wheel loader simulators apply state-of-the-art technologies to instil safety of operation and attain consistently high levels of efficiency in operators of this type of equipment.
The CYBERMINE wheel loader operator is immersed in a highly realistic, 3D operating mine world, projected on three wide screen displays located about the operator’s cab. The entire wheel loader cab is replicated to provide all instruments and controls correctly located about the operator.
Simulated equipment behavioural dynamics are based on detailed mathematical models that use equipment manufacturer specifications to provide accurate realism. ThoroughTec’s advanced soil interaction models allow the instructor to specify ground properties, requiring the operator to exercise correct digging techniques in order to obtain efficient bucket fill factors.
Simulator exercises may be configured to address various training requirements, including operations with different soil types, weather conditions, automated haul truck behavioural patterns, loading techniques, night operations, sub-system failures and advanced emergency situations.
The operator’s inputs are continually monitored and recorded, together with adherence to safety procedures, correct equipment handling techniques and response to emergency situations and failures. These performance reports together with the instructor’s after-action review capability provide a complete wheel loader training and evaluation system, aimed at optimising operator safety and improving mine productivity.
Highly efficient and effective training is therefore realised with no loss of production and no danger of accidents, even in the most complex of emergency situations to which the operator might be expected to respond.
