A position has opened up for an energetic and high performing Electrical Design Engineer at ThoroughTec Simulation’s head office in Durban, South Africa.  ThoroughTec is the world’s leading developer of advanced operator training simulators for various industries, such as mining, military and airport rescue and firefighting equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BEng or BSc in Electrical Engineering
• 4-5 years’ work experience, with at least 1x years’ experience as an Electrical Design Engineer
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor would be advantageous
• Experience in a niche manufacturing environment will be advantageous

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement electrical systems for our simulator products, while working closely with the mechanical design team
• Attend concept and design reviews, and present electrical system requirements/solutions that will meet our quality standards, customer expectations, as well as applicable regulatory standards (e.g. CSA)
• Identify potential suppliers and foster collaboration with them on parts, components, new technologies, etc. that can be effectively used in our simulator systems
• Participate and be actively involved in electrical component integration, and the assessment of outcomes (fast course correction when required)
• Attend twice weekly R&D meetings and provide updates on your projects
• Work closely with the Production Control team to ensure electrical design items are ordered timeously

ThoroughTec Simulation, the world’s leading developer of high-fidelity, operator training simulators for the mining industry, is looking for an energetic and experienced Customer Success Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting ThoroughTec’s global mining clients to properly integrate and utilise our CYBERMINE dump truck operator training simulator and other technology-based training products to maximise value realisation. Candidates will be expected to leverage their pre-existing skills and experience, as well as mastering new technology and methods to.

• Instruct client staff in the effective use of ThoroughTec’s CYBERMINE dump truck operator training simulator and other supporting products.
• Conduct equipment specific training interventions on the simulator, providing high level support and guidance to participants to ensure successful outcomes.
• Review and modify client training curricula and course material to best leverage ThoroughTec’s products in the context of Client training objectives.
• Oversee and mentor Client trainers and instructors.
• Facilitate course delivery, skill building and monitor training progress, analyse outcomes and report results to mine management.
• Critically, this individual will be required to interface with all levels of mine management to identify operator KPI’s, collect and assess actual operator performance data and then implement the necessary operator performance improvement programmes to achieve the client’s desired outcomes.
• This role will be FIFO (Perth based to Kalgoorlie) with an 8:6 roster utilising client charter flights and accommodation.

Requirements:

A Field Support Technician is required to travel extensively both locally within the USA and abroad, and will be away from home for at least two to three weeks of every month.

The Junior Field Support Technician is responsible to provide professional service and support to all ThoroughTec customers in their specific region of operation.  The Technician will be traveling to all customer sites to execute services, repairs, commissioning of systems, and emergency call-outs.  In addition, the technician will be responsible for contacting all clients on a regular basis to check on the health and use of their systems, and to build lasting customer relationships.  When in the office the technician will also be required to attend to any technical issues reported and assist with setting to work as required.

The main purpose of this job is to drive service success that improves customer satisfaction, maximizes customer retention and increases profitability.

Responsibilities:

• Maintenance, servicing, testing and repair of simulator systems deployed at various client sites globally.
• Diagnose errors and/or technical problems correctly, and determine proper solutions. Implement solutions where possible.
• Commissioning of systems at client sites.
• Conduct training at client sites during commissioning on the use of the system, as well as when specifically tasked to provide training.
• Manage all on site installation, repairs, maintenance, and testing tasks (when this takes place in a team environment).
• Attend to emergency call-outs (telephonically or physically).
• Build positive and lasting relationships with customers.
• Regular telephonic and electronic communication with clients on an ongoing basis.
• Produce timely and detailed service and repair reports, as well as documenting service and installation actions by completing appropriate ThoroughTec forms, reports, logs, and records.
• Always follow company procedures and protocols.
• Cooperate with other disciplines within ThoroughTec when necessary, and share applicable information gained during site visits across the organisation (e.g. potential system improvements).
• Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings to relevant parties within ThoroughTec (e.g. Business Development Team).

Requirements:

• Willingness to travel extensively, for long periods of time.

• An IT and networking qualification/certification (e.g. A+, N+, MCSE).
